Mount Vernon – Do you remember the name Citizen Kane had for his most prized possession as a child? [Answer at the end of this article]. If ever there was a person whose life deserved to be made into a movie, William Randolph Hearst was that person. Newspaper tycoon, inventor of what became known as yellow journalism and some indicate helped start the Spanish-American War to sell newspapers, Hearst was very complicated and influential in so many ways.
On Thursday, October 16, you can meet the man and hear his story as portrayed by Dayne Baughman, a veteran of the Chautauqua stage. Dayne has brought us Baby Ruth and Burl Ives in past performance, now he brings us a man, who most either respect and love or dislike and distain with no middle ground. Opening the program will be the Harmony Brothers.
The program brought to you on a donation basis will be held at ThePlace@TheWoodward (downtown Mount Vernon at 111 S. Main Street). The theater is a first floor facility and accessible to those with special needs such as wheel chairs, walkers and strollers. Doors open at 6 PM, Harmony Brothers at 7 PM and William Randolph Hearst at 7:45 PM with a question and answer period with Mr. Hearst after his presentation.
