Mount Vernon – He transformed the world of family oriented entertainment and fantasy with an animated feature about a mouse, originally named Mortimer. He envisioned an amusement park for his employees and their children to enjoy. His vision created an empire that awarded him 59 academy award nominations and 22 wins. The life of thisbusiness magnate, animator, cartoonist, producer, director, screenwriter, entrepreneur, and voice actor named Walt Disney will come to life in living color as Elixir’s 8th Chautauqua Series Season opens on Thursday January 16, 2014 at ThePlace@TheWoodward [111 S. Main Street in Mount Vernon, Ohio].
Chautauqua favorite, Jim Stoner, will portray Disney in this first person living history format. Opening the program will be Sarah Goslee Reed, an amazingly gifted songwriter and entertainer. The doors open at this first floor facility [accessible to those with special needs such as wheel chairs, walkers and baby strollers] at 6 PM and the program starts at 7 PM.
These programs are presented on a donation basis and proceeds go for rent, stipends for the performers and supplies with Elixir volunteering their time to produce this entertaining, educational and family friendly programming.
