Mount Vernon – For those who missed Ken Barnet’s portrayal of Red Shelton two years ago, mark June 11, 7 PM at ThePlace@TheWoodward [120 S. Main St. in downtown Mount Vernon] on your calendar. Ken presents Skelton in first person living history including pantomimes, comedy sketches and an appearance as Freddie the Freeloader performing the Pledge of Allegiance.
The popular Chautauqua Series sponsored by Elixir and supported by a grant from the Ariel Foundation, presents first person portrayals of a wide variety of people in history in an intimate setting and providing an intimate look of the real person, not just what the text books say about the person.
Opening for this program will be the sponsors of the series, the trio known as Elixir, Chris Petee, Gerry Rensel and Mike Petee, who present classic American songs and add a little twist with humor to bring new life to Americana.
Doors open at ThePlace@TheWoodward on Thursday June 11 at 6 PM, Elixir will perform at 7 PM and Red Skelton will take the stage at approximately 7:45 PM with a chance to ask questions of the character right after his performance. These programs are presented on a donation basis and all proceeds go directly to the performers.
