Mount Vernon - “And it seems to me you lived your life Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to When the rain set in” wrote Bernie Taupin/Elton John in the song they wrote about Marilyn Monroe. She did indeed blaze her way from Norma Jean Mortenson to a legend and flamed out in 36 short years of barbiturate poisoning under mysterious circumstances, possibly murder.
Join Hope Dial as she makes her Chautauqua debut and reveals the true Marilyn Monroe, her romances, her husbands, her legendary performances and multiple awards and possibly a word or two about the Kennedy brothers. Hope Dial has appeared in many theatre productions in the area over the years and has been developing the Marilyn Monroe character for over a year.
Hope Dial will appear as Marilyn Monroe as part of the Chautauqua Series presented by Elixir Presents, the Ohio Humanities Council, Rolls-Royce Charities/Civic Fund and Ariel Foundation, at ThePlace@TheWoodward (111 S. Main Street in downtown Mount Vernon) on March 14. Doors open at this first floor facility at 6 PM and program starts at 7 PM. Opening this program that is presented on a donation basis is Jim Stoner, appearing as Frank Sinatra, the singer.
