Julia Child  to Cook Up an Enjoyable Evening at Chautauqua

MOUNT VERNON – Here are some interesting things you didn’t know about Julia Child, the cook who brought French cuisine into your home on PBS starting in 1963. She was born in California, graduated from Princeton University, was a member of the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) during WWII after finding out she was too tall to join the WACS or WAVES, and won a U.S. National Book Award, a Peabody and Emmy.

This coming Thursday, April 28, 2016, enjoy Susan Kahrl as Julia Child as the featured guest at the Chautauqua Series, now in its 10th season. The show will be at ThePlace@TheWoodward [currently at 120 S. Main Street but soon to be moving to 101 S. Main Street]. The first floor facility will open at 6 PM and the program begins at 7 PM with Owl Creek [consisting of Sarah Goslee Reed, Skip Trask, Alison Cline and Mike Petee] brewing up their own blend of original songs anchored in a contemporary folk sound. At 7:45 join Susan portraying Julia Child in first person living history and then get your questions ready for Julia to answer immediately at the end of her presentation.

This and all the Chautauqua programs are brought to you on a donation basis and helped in part by a grant from the Ariel Foundation. For more information on this and other upcoming shows visit www.elixirpresents.com, www.VisitKnoxOhio.org, or call 740-392-6102.
