Mount Vernon – If you have not witnessed any of her previous performances on the Chautauqua stage, you don’t want to miss Dr. Annette Jefferson’s presentation as Ethel Waters Thursday April 16, 2015 at ThePlace@TheWoodward [120 S. Main Street in downtown Mount Vernon] as part of the 9th season of the Chautauqua Series brought to you by Elixir in association with a grant by the Ariel Foundation.
Dr. Jefferson has graced the stage in the past with presentations of Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth and Rosa Parks and now takes on the personage of Ethel Waters, an amazing Gospel singer and actress, winner of a lifetime achievement Grammy, nominated for Academy and Emmy Awards and honored by the Library of Congress for her rendition of the song “Stormy Weather.”
In addition to Ethel Waters, making their debut on the Chautauqua Stage is the ever popular The McManaways Gospel music family. Doors open at 6 PM, the McManaways perform from 7-7:30 and then Ethel Waters will make her presentation, followed by Q&A. This presentation is a donation basis with all monies collected going to Dr. Jefferson and The McManaways.
