Mount Vernon – Best known for his 57 tours for the USO between 1941 and 1991, along with his “Road” movies with Bing Crosby and his career as a comedian, vaudevillian, actor, singer, dancer, and athlete besides being a part owner of his American hometown baseball team, the Cleveland Indians, and you get a sense the Bob Hope lived 3 or 4 lifetimes in order to carry out that workload.
On Thursday February 27, the Elixir’s Chautauqua Series hosts Bob Hope as portrayed by entertainment lawyer Greg Patterson, from Delaware, Ohio. Last year Mr. Patterson served up a wonderful helping of W.C. Fields and will surely do the same as Bob Hope. Opening the program will be Desmond Wall.
The Chautauqua Series presents stage appearances of first person living history in an entertaining and continuing educational way that goes well beyond what you might know from the history books and is a wonderful way to learn more about people you think you know. As an example, did you know Bob Hope received 3 knighthood awards – one from England and two from the Vatican?
The program will be at ThePlace@TheWoodward (111 S. Main Street in downtown Mount Vernon) on Thursday February 27, 2014. The facility is a first floor, special needs accessible theater. The doors open at 6 PM and presentation starts at 7 PM with opening performer, featured character, followed by a question and answer session, all brought to our community on a donation basis with the help of the Rolls-Royce Charities/Civics Fund.
