Mount Vernon - Returning for its 11th season, Elixir Presents with the support of The Ariel Foundation is happy to bring first person living history programming to Knox County on a donation basis. These programs enrich our community in a fun and family oriented way, giving you a realistic view of various people in history, from Presidents to villains, actors to inventors, war heroes to entertainers.
Did you know that Knox County enjoys the only monthly Chautauqua in the United States? Did you know our first program for 2017 will be presented by Ken Hammontree as Dwight D. Eisenhower? Did you know that following his presidency, Eisenhower retired to a farmhouse in Gettysburg with his wife, Mamie and although he had resigned his commission as a general when he became president, when he left office his successor, President Kennedy, reactivated his commission? And did you know, he kept an office at Gettysburg College for the remainder of his life, where he held meetings and wrote his memoirs?
Join us at ThePlace@TheWoodward (101 S. Main Street in downtown Mount Vernon) on January 26 at 7 PM. This is a first floor theatre and fully accessible for people with special needs.
Doors open at 6 PM, opening act providing 30 minutes of music to set the mood will be Desmond Wall. Dwight Eisenhower at 7:45 and a question and answer period right after his presentation. During the Q&A, we will pass the basket and all monies collected go to the performers.
